Nine!
The girls across the road have a lovely dog - a Karthols Griffon or Wire-haired Pointing Griffon. Friendly and docile, yet good at guarding. They decided to breed with her and a few weeks ago she had nine puppies. The breed is known for having large litters, so they were well-prepared. The puppies have become a full-time/round the clock job, especially now as they are being weaned and are starting to move around.
Now that the mother is happy for visitors to look at and pick up the puppies, we went across to see them. What a delight! They are gorgeous. Their mother now leaves them for spells of peace and quiet, but soon returns to make sure they are okay (see extra). I was taking photos to send to our granddaughter who is dog mad, so posted one.
Of course they are hoping to sell them and have already had enquiries. If they have a temperament anything like their mum's they will each become a lovely family pet.
