Camping on the Cheap
Cloudy and chilly but temps did not get as low as predicted. We rested till about 7:30 this morning. A rep from our Internet provider/cable tv was coming to upgrade our service between 8:30 and 11:30 am. Hubby did his morning exercises and read a bit while waiting. I decluttered horizontal surfaces; where does all the paperwork/ads/magazines/lists come from? The rep arrived at 11:20. He promptly cut our neighbors’ telework connections so that was a cluster. According to the guy, we need a new cable run before service can be improved. As he pulled from our drive, we realized we had no service so hubby flagged him down. Unfortunately, he spoke little English so communication was terrible at best. After about an hour, he got us up and running again. No idea when anyone will be back. We ate a quick lunch; I went Christmas shopping for a couple specific items available locally. Hubby had PT then we both went to the base to grocery shop and get meds. I found some great meat sales. While waiting for hubby, I saw this camper parked at the end of the lot. WalMart allows folks to dry camp for free around their perimeter if there is empty space. Hubby took advantage of that service one night when the trip got too long to reach his destination. We are ordering wings for dinner. My son has been with his father all day. He is bed ridden now and his BP is way too low. My children feel so helpless and sad. My oldest daughter goes tomorrow and she is not one to be inactive. Maybe she can get him back in the hospital for evaluation and then to a rehab facility so he can walk again. They walk on egg shells with his wife. Thanks for the visit. Enjoy some down time. “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” — Anne Lamott
