April Fool?

Are those rays of sunshine real or an April Fools joke from heaven?

A good friend of mine, who I hadn't seen for almost a year, came over for the day. Like me she enjoys the countryside so after a light lunch we went up onto Black Heath and on through the Pine forest for a good walk as we put the world to rights. Although the wind was bitter, the rays from the brilliant sun were incredibly warming. The light between the long shadows was wonderfully surreal as it crossed low across the paths.

The car park was overflowing but we didn't encounter many people on our walk. This family, oddly enough, we past more than once as they toured around the paths on their bikes. The sight of them coming towards us on this long bridleway was irresistible.

It's good to catch up. Fortunately, the weather wasn't a trick and the day couldn't have turned out to be more perfect for a visit.
