Looks Can Be Deceiving

Sunny and chilly today. We had a frost warning last night but there was no evidence of it when I arose. We were out of desserts so I made a no bake pineapple cream pie last night. After breakfast, I whipped up some cranberry pecan oatmeal cookies, one of our favorites. We are back in business. At his appointment today, the physical therapist told hubby the swelling is normal which was a relief. He is trying so hard to avoid the strong pain killers but it is tough. While he exercised, I drove to the base to pick up his meds, then grabbed a few groceries. Hubby got finished early so it was a typical mad dash from here and there. We had more of our homemade soup for lunch. As soon as I cleaned the kitchen and threw in a load of laundry, it was time to pick up Chase. This seemingly peaceful lake sits by the main road almost exactly between where Kristen and I live. Both of us looked at homes on the lake but the building quality wasn’t acceptable plus the road noise is so loud, you simply could not have a conversation outside. But that is not the main story of this lake. There was a recent report that a 6.5-7 foot alligator has been living here for the last year or so. Authorities have seen it and tried to catch it without success. Their goal is to get it back to Florida before it meets the same fate as the 7 foot gator found in the neighboring county. Some man enjoyed him for Father’s Day dinner. Because alligators are not native to our state, there are no laws to protect them. In my humble opinion, it is simply wrong to abandon wildlife in a non-native area. Folks used to fish there but I haven’t noticed any small boats on the lake in recent months. Wonder why. Hubby is napping and I’m enjoying the warmth of two kitties on my lap. Looking forward to leftovers for dinner and a quiet evening. Thanks for stopping by. Stay safe! “And I say also this. I do not think the forest would be so bright, nor the water so warm, nor love so sweet, if there were no danger in the lakes.” – C. S. Lewis
