Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

A wee surprise…

It was all go today! It started, half way though my porridge, with Peter (the tiler) appearing at the door with all his gear, ready to tile the laundry floor. I had not expected him, through an administrative error (on my part). JR was at the gym, I had to go out in half an hour - panic stations for a while, until I rang Hazel, who kindly came over till JR came home.

At long last I saw my cardiologist - who is the spitting image of Stanley Tucci - and he is genuinely puzzled. Though he declared right away that the heart and the numb legs are NOT connected. Which means it must be my back causing them. However, he’s going to refer me to a colleague who will do an echocardiogram to see what’s happening. Good. Something being done at last.

By the time I came home again (stopping in town for a Pret coffee. Oh, and a pastry) Peter had almost finished the tiling job. And very smart it looks too.

JR took Archie out for a walk in the afternoon. And a parcel arrived for us. From Jersey. Marked FRAGILE. We knew exactly what it was… the iconic wee White House on St Ouen’s Bay, which we had admired in a local gallery. A nice wee surprise! Thanks, A & B!
