Diary of an Edinburgher

Drama

Pip came over this morning. As usual, the two dogs followed me around everywhere. But when I sit down, only one dog can sit with me. Whoever’s first. This time it was Pip, who made himself comfy, ignoring Archie’s dirty looks.

JR took them out when she came home from the gym. I did not take them out, as I had a bit of a dramatic eye incident…

So weird! Suddenly, I couldn’t SEE out of it!! What I could see was very bright colourful moving shapes, like a kaleidoscope. Most alarming. It went on for about 10 minutes, then the top half of my vision came back, and the bottom half, which was now grey, slowly ‘washed away’.

I rang the surgery, but I didn’t sense any urgency, they told me to ring the optician, which I did. Not much urgency there either. Just a few questions, and ‘We’ll ring you back when we’ve had a triage.

The lack of urgency, I told myself, was a positive thing… They did ring back. At 5.20pm… They had told me they couldn’t see me today anyway. They invited me in for an appointment… on Monday!

Unless it happens again - then ring 111…

They think it might be a ‘visual migraine’…

In the afternoon we went to a ‘business meeting’ of Foundation Scotland. Our ex-neighbour is the CEO, so it was nice to see him again. There were three different panel discussions by various wonderful people, doing marvellous things. We really enjoyed it, but we didn’t stay for the wine and nibbles - Archie was waiting patiently for us in his new bed. Which I think, yes, he is growing to love…

An exciting day tomorrow!
