Diary of an Edinburgher

Sunshine!

Wall to wall sunshine today - not a cloud in the sky. And no wind. Archie and I sat out in the front garden for a while. Funnily enough, a man scuttled by the gate with a wooly hat pulled down, but Archie knew - it was Robert! Archie ran to the gate to bark, and he came back to pat him, but was in a hurry somewhere. Funny that Archie recognised him - I didn’t.

Later, we all went out for a walk. Normal people would have been off walking along the Water of Leith, or walking along the coast on the John Muir Way to Musselburgh on such a perfect day. Indeed, I always have grand ideas, but as soon as I set off, things go haywire - I don’t want to go any further. We walked down to the Meadows, but after about 2,000 steps, I realise that I don’t want to go much further. So I got the bus back home. (Note to self: Don’t leave home without bus pass.) JR and Archie went on right round the Meadows.

After reading, yet again, about excellent books and audio versions (Nicky!) I decided to give Audible another go. So I’ve downloaded the Booker Prize Winner, ‘The Promise’ and even got the audio version for a month’s free trial. It’s great how you can switch between the two. I’ll try not to fall asleep.

Our chap, Peter the tiler, came back to lift the washing machine back into the laundry. I must say, it looks just lovely on the newly tiled floor. JR has declared that the new floor must be kept clear…

We then popped over to Hazel’s to finalise the 5* holiday we’re planning - it’s good to have Hazel as the ‘Tour Leader’ to do all the arranging. Bubbly and nibbles were enjoyed, while Archie stayed at home to chew his bone.

Just a sunny selfie from this morning, as it’s quite an unusual occurrence in November. I was listening to ‘Women’s Hour’ - Amanda Knox was talking about her life.
