Fungi on the Heath
This morning I walked with H on Kelling Heath and we went looking for fungi. We spotted a few, my favourite are the amethyst deceivers, but they were mostly only just coming through. We also found a slow worm on the path (see Extra). Then I listened to The Budget (surprised that not a Green budget, he actually slashed domestic flight taxes!!!) and now I’m sitting watching the start of the Murray vs Alcarez match - experience vs youth.
Day 590 / Day 101 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
The ONS is reporting that 9 in 10 UK adults has antibodies, but that those in the 60 to 64 year age group have fallen from 98% in late May to 88%, although the relationship between antibodies and protection is still not fully clear. More were wearing facemasks in the Commons to listen to the budget, although still not Jacob Rees-Mogg and Liz Truss. The labour leader has tested positive from his daily lateral flow test and had to miss the budget at the last minute. The Public Accounts Committee says that NHS Test and Trace failed in its objectives despite spending £37bn (equivalent to a fifth of the annual budget of the NHS), used too many expensive contractors, and that it used taxpayers as an ATM. The economy is expected to return to pre-Covid levels by the end of this year. Deaths in Russia continue to rise, with a new daily record of 1,123.
