Fly Agaric
I walked with G this morning to the Lowes and Country Park. We were in search of fungi, but the gates were closed leading to where I knew there were some in other years. Fortunately we passed someone who mentioned a fly agaric was up ahead, just off the path - so blip done! This afternoon I watched Emma Raduncanu's latest match, had a phone catch up with one of my sisters and listened in to an interesting talk by the Zoe Covid symptom team on Vaccines and the Immunosuppressed.
Day 591 / Day 102 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
The Lancet Infected Diseases work has shown that double jabbed people are just as likely to pass on the virus as unvaccinated people, but although their peak viral load is similar, they clear the infection more quickly. The risk of passing the virus on to an unvaccinated person in your household is 38%, but if that person is vaccinated the risk reduces to 25%. All countries on the Govt's travel list are to be removed from next Monday but the system will remain. The UN have warned that there could be a shortage of more than two billion 'auto-disposable' syringes (that cannot be re-used) for use in mainly low and middle income countries. Infections are spiking in Eastern Europe. Singapore is investigating an 'unusual surge' in cases. The CSA has said that Covid models are 'quite uncertain at the moment' with a lot of variability over what might happen over the next few months, but that a 'pretty difficult winter' is ahead.
