The wanderer returns

but only for 2 weeks.

It's been almost a year since we last saw Luke - June 2012 in fact, when we visited him in China for 2 weeks.

He arrived just after 11:00 this morning and contrary to my expectations, seems bright and breezy despite having been travelling fo the last 36 hours. He clearly sleeps better on long haul flights than I do.

We went out for lunch and he had a club sandwich. Never seen anyone enjoy a sandwich so much. Apparantley, all bread in China is of the sweet variety (think brioch) so not good for savoury snacks.

He was using his mobile to talk with his girlfriend in China. They have a voice messaging system which is popular because typing messages in Mandarin using a regular keypad is so inefficient. Seems like a good idea to me as I know people who take forever to type a message (Diana), especially when they refuse to use predictive text.

The fun starts tonight with high tea - another thing he has missed about home ... like we did that often anyway.
