Decluttering

Going to the house in Salford has become such a calming experience that I've been inspired to sort out the mildly stressful clutter magnet in Kirkby Lonsdale. I've been making a little bit of progress over the last few weeks but the time has come to put in some serious effort.

There is so much to be done and it's quite an effort working out what sequence in which to do things. This evening, I tackled Dan's room, which included clearing out the cupboard. That ended up being a domestic archaeological dig; I found things in there from when two of my older daughters shared the room more than ten years ago.

With that done, I can now move some of his musical instruments from the music room into his bedroom, thus giving more space to rearrange all my stuff and set up a drawing table for the Minx. (I have been toying with the idea of getting the fireplace reopened in there but that's too much to think about right now!)

Really, the only room that's how I want it to be right now is my bedroom, which you can see in today's photo. (Although that has been largely achieved by moving clutter from there into the music room, which is not actually the required solution.) As it is just across the hall from Dan's room, it served as some visual inspiration when I was flagging.
