The reason for the visit
Back blip
We are here for a reunion of ‘the Brats’, but the day started with a visit to Bletchley Park. We have been there once before about 10 years ago, but there have been many changes with additional displays and use of technology.
It was busy, which on a big site was not a problem. It just shows the amount of interest there is in this WW11 secret code breaking and intelligence centre. It is set out in such a way to be of interest to young and old. I have added some pictures in extra.
Back to the hotel for a rest before the evening event which is a reunion of the 106 Entry of Halton Apprentices. We haven’t met for two years due to COVID and in the meantime we have sadly lost some of the group and some were not able to attend due to health problems and travel restrictions. A zoom meeting was set up after dinner and the ‘lads’ were able to communicate individually with the lads signing in from home.
I was surprised to see that so many had noticeably aged and were ‘old men’, cultivating facial hair as they become balder. It was a lovely evening. As time goes on they grow closer and value the time that they spent at RAF Halton as 16 -18 year olds, the making of them.
