Put Another Log on the Fire....

Autumn is definitely here - along with rain, wind and cold. It is sweater and raincoat weather..and time to light the fire....and keep it going all day! 

The younger ones took the boat to town this morning while I stayed back here at the cottage to lounge and read..by the fire of course..and then in the afternoon, while my son-in-law went fishing, my daughter and I threw the whole cottage into disarray in an attempt to weed out and declutter...We began in the  kitchen, starting with pots and pans and moved on to casserole dishes  and then to the cutlery and spice drawers. Then we started moving things around, re-arranging shelves and cupboards..by dinner time, we had the whole place in a total mess...BUT we now have two bags of items to drop off at the Salvation Army on our next trip to town, and  a collection of items whose fate is iffy and yet to be determined....so a rainy day was put to good use. 

Meanwhile throughout all this, a big pot of chili con carne was simmering away on the stove, so dinner was a no-brainer...which is a good thing as we were all worn out and ready to put our feet up - by the fire of course...

The fire feels good; it is still quite chilly out there - a dark but not-so-stormy night...maybe the weather is improving?  Maybe the rain has finally stopped? But I have just checked my weather app, and alas, the forecast for tomorrow is for rain... all day...again!  Perhaps that means there will be more decluttering on the agenda...?
