Landing Craft

Had a long walk along the prom at Southsea this afternoon. So much to see.
This is the last surviving Landing Craft Tank from the D-Day Landings in the Second World War. It is alongside the D-Day Museum. It carried ten tanks across the English Channel to Gold Beach in Normandy. It is 59 meters long and was built in just three months by a team of men and women at Hawthorn Leslie and Company in Hebburn in the north-east of England.
The extra shows Southsea castle close by.
