"Slow"

I went into college this afternoon to help out with a new class that is just starting the music production course, which I enjoyed doing for a number of reasons but not least because it was reassuring to see how much I have actually learned!

The Minx met me straight afterwards so that we could walk across to the 'A Lovely Time' comedy night at Grub, which is hosted by Amy Gledhill. At Ducie Bridge, near Victoria Station, we descended the stairs to the River Irk, which disappears at this point into that large tunnel you can see in my photo. Somewhere in there, the Irk joins up with the Irwell.

I'd love to know the history of all the arches down here. I can't quite imagine what went on. Wharves or something? Anyway, we did indeed have a lovely time at Grub and on the way back, the Minx suggested that we pop into The Eagle Inn.

We bought ourselves drinks and settled down at a table in one of the front rooms. After a while, a man and a woman walked in and the guy greeted us with the slightly unusual gambit "How's the revolution coming?"

Now, the Minx and I aren't one of those couples that finishes each another's sentences but without missing a beat, we both looked up and replied "Slow".
