Pull Up The Roots

As predicted, today has been - and will be - a lot busier than yesterday. Started with breakfast in M&S before doing the weekly shop. To compensate for the calories consumed, we then visited the gym before lunch. A good session with two new PBs.
I needed to go and get fuel after lunch whilst Mrs C said she was going to tackle a plant that had taken over one of the borders.
I arrived back to find all the foliage had been cleared, but she was having great difficulty in getting the roots out. It seemed my muscles - and weight - were required to get the spade down deep enough to loosen everything. After a lot of digging - and almost demolishing the wall - we were finally able to start pulling the main root out.
And no wonder Mrs C was struggling initially - as you can see, she has pulled up over a metre and still not reached the end of it. And, in spite - or perhaps because - of the gym session earlier, she did not have the strength to pull the last foot out of the ground. Over to yours truly to flex the muscles once again.
The good news is that a portion of the border is clear. The bad news is that there are still two further big clumps to dig out! But not tonight, as it’s play rehearsal for me, whilst Mrs C is on a mission with her photography club, exploring the yards and ginnels of Kendal.
And tomorrow promises to be even more exciting. We’re actually going to the theatre to see a play we should have seen in April last year. Rescheduled twice already due to various lockdowns, we’re really hoping it’s going to be third time lucky. No emails to the contrary and I’ve been able to print out the tickets, so fingers crossed.
