New Coat of Paint

Around this time last year, I blipped about the water damage to our flat in Chester and the need to repaint the ceiling. There was also a bit of staining to the walls and the intention was to match the colour and just paint the affected areas. I discovered that the colour as told to me by the previous owner was a Dulux Trade colour that had now been archived. But the shop was happy to mix up a pot as the formula was still in the database.
I duly painted the damaged areas but had to leave before they were properly dry. Returning a couple of weeks later, the paint was now dry but also patently not the right colour! As the flat was only decorated three years ago, and the blinds are always closed when we’re not there, it seems unlikely the colour has faded. The only conclusion is that either the colour is not what we were told, or the mix is not right. Either way, we are now faced with redecorating the bedroom as there are splodges of the wrong colour on every wall, so we can’t even get away with creating a “feature wall” in a different shade - the whole lot will have to be re-done.
We’ve narrowed it down to three possibles - all from the same “palette” as the original - and test patches will be applied tomorrow. I do have to say that one of them looks suspiciously close to the actual colour of the walls. Could it be that we were indeed misinformed, and that we have chanced upon the right colour through sheer luck? We will have to wait and see.
