A time for everything

Friday
Laura wasn’t working today until late afternoon, so we were able to do something together again. We had been interested in seeing a special exhibit at the Art Museum, “Paintings, Politics and the Monument Men: The Berlin Masterpieces in America.”
“This exhibition focuses on the fate of some of the finest European paintings from the Berlin State Museums that traveled to the United States soon after the end of the war and were exhibited at fourteen museums across the country before returning to Germany. Longtime Cincinnatian and supporter of the arts, Captain Walter Farmer led the Monuments Men’s protest against the paintings’ controversial transfer from Germany. Featuring paintings that made the journey, alongside artworks and historical material from the Cincinnati Art Museum and other lenders, the exhibition delves into the complex role of artworks in a time of social upheaval and war, and highlights the importance of tracing the movements and uses of cultural treasures.”
The description.makes it sound a bit grander than it was, as it wasn’t a very large exhibition, but it was quite interesting, and reminded me I still haven’t read the book about the Monument Men which Roger was given as a gift a few years ago, or seen the film. Roger read the book and found it very interesting, but I never got round to it.
After the museum, we went down to the riverfront for a walk, as after a week with a lot of rain, we finally had a sunny day! I took several pictures of colourful flowers for Flower Friday, but I couldn’t choose, so I made a collage!
In the evening, Roger and I went to the concert on the Town Square in Blue Ash. Laura chose not to join us - she didn’t think it would be her cup of tea! They were a good band, and played a good range of music, including a lot from our younger years! It was a beautiful evening, and we took food and drink with us, and enjoyed revisiting our past for a few hours!
