The Red Barn
Rainy until late afternoon, mild temps. The crew enjoyed my Denver omelette muffins for breakfast and soon after, we headed to a town south of the farm that is about an hour away. We had high hopes for our rainy day. The men found what they were shopping for so things were looking up. My sister and I wanted to check out the marble and stained glass factories and gift shops. Everything was closed up tight. We headed to our favorite restaurant, closed on Monday. Luckily, there was another mom and pop diner that offered the fish sandwich I wanted. Everyone left quite satisfied with their meal. We checked out the park in hopes of finding a blip since we heard it had paintings by local students. They were good but not really blip material. My sister found some possibilities. Hubby took an alternate route home and we came upon this peaceful farm scene. I love quilt murals on red barns, green hilly landscape, munching farm animals in pastures and was able to capture it all. The savory smell of ribs cooking in the crock pot met us at the door. The side dishes are all cooked. Kindle time for the ladies and an ATV ride for the guys. Our partially rainy day has been a great success. Praying for so many who are less fortunate. We have soldiers from our parish who are in Afghanistan and the news from Haiti gets worse every day. Sometimes I feel very guilty with all my blessings. Thanks for dropping by. Be safe.
“Through the ample open door of the peaceful country barn, A sun-lit pasture field, with cattle and horses feeding; And haze, and vista, and the far horizon, fading away.” - Walt Whitman
