Long horned bee..
..does not have real horns but just unusually long antennas. Bee antennas are sensory organs for touch, taste, and smell but can also detect temperature, humidity, and carbon dioxide, along with gravity and wind speed. That is why I am perplexed by the fact that only the male long horned bee has long antennas. Does the female not need it, or are their short antennas capable of the same sensory data collection as that of the male? Is the long antenna maybe just a a trick to attract females?
