Bee fly..
..there ere are more than 6000 species in the world, of which more than 300 are found in Italy, still most people are unaware of their existence! They look a bit like a bee, but are not bees. They have a long proboscis that sticks out and doesn't curl and gives the impression that they might sting, but they don't. The adult feeds on nectar and pollen and is a good pollinator whereas the larva is a parasite that feeds on insects. I don't know the species name of the tiny bee-fly on today's blip, it is much smaller than the bee fly I have posted before but the traits are the same. It was hypnotizing to watch it feed on the basil.
