Scoat Tarn
A long day with some moments of tough, a little bit of grim but a lot of spectacular wonderfulness.
Leaving Seathwaite we made our way up Sour Milk Ghyll, over Green Gable, up into the clag on Great Gable and then a tough descent down scree and back up onto Kirk Fell. The little scramble down to Black Sail Pass took us into glorious sunshine and by the time we were on the long climb up to Pillar it was positively glorious.
We stuck to our plan with a long Traverse around the aptly named Black Comb* before finally descending down to the stunning Scoat Tarn, a perfect wild camp spot.
*From here in the extra you can see across to both Gables and also the whole Scafell Range.
