Development

I have posted these beach huts before, there are 34 of them, I counted today. Why? I read that the development of the sea front, commonly known as The Green has been awarded extra funding and is to go ahead this winter in time for the beginning of the season next year. This has been finally agreed following the influx of visitors during and since lockdown. We are in the centre of a bay that stretches end to end for 30 miles. Dungeness at one end  is a nature reserve with natural visitor attractions. From there, past Greatstone, Ladd on Sea, Us, St Mary’s Bay there is not a lot. A small parade of shops, the lifeboat station, occasional fish and chip shops. Then Dymchurch which is a busy seafront town with funfairs, typical shops, arcades etc. Then again nothing much round the other side of the bay, just lovely beaches and coastal path until you reach the prt of Folkestone, then Dover. It has been decided that the middle needs more amenities for tourists. So, we are to get 110 beach huts, renovated and enlarged car park, toilets, changing rooms, and yes a cafe! I have included the artists drawing in my extras. We live a 7 minute walk from the front, and it shouldn’t impact on us other than maybe a busier dog walk in the summer months! 

My other extra is a photo Sarah sent. Their cat, Dolly is a house cat and doesn’t go out at all. Since they moved however she seems to have attracted a friend, who comes and sits outside in anticipation. Tonight the visiting cat brought Dolly a dead bird which it has deposited in the middle of the garden!
