Heart of Glass Blanket

Monday 2nd August 2021

A couple of artists from Heart of Glass ran a pilot project with some members of our congregation on Zoom recently. They were encouraged to do rubbings and prickings of things that represented lockdown for them. The artists then took all the work away and turned it into a piece of artwork that was printed on fleece blankets. Today we were able to gather together and present the blankets to participants.

Each square blanket is a combination of everyone's work. The circles represent the rainbow and within each bow pictures are grouped in themes. When the blankets are placed together the rainbows make a pathway, representing the shared journey that each participant has made.

People found the project quite hard on Zoom but they were delighted today by being able to join together to see the result.

I have inset two extra pictures - one says "believe" and the other says "the stars are not in lockdown".
