Life In Wales

I’ve been absent from Blip for a few days, but we’ve had a bit of a family crisis, so I’ve been otherwise occupied!

Alan’s dad got taken into hospital on Monday and then Monday night I got a call from my cousin’s wife to say that mum was struggling to breathe and an ambulance was on its way. I phoned mum and she sounded awful and when I asked why she hadn’t called me, she said ‘because you were in work’.

I headed up there and by the time I arrived the ambulance had been and gone, had thoroughly checked her over, including a heart trace and they said all seemed fine. I stayed the night with her and contacted my boss to let him know that I would be in work Tuesday morning. Then on Tuesday I got up to find mum had been sick and was still out of breathe so I called the doctors surgery who put us on a list for a phone call. The doctor called quite quickly and after explaining what had happened, she booked us in to see her at 10am. She gave mum another thorough check over and couldn’t find anything wrong so said to monitor it over the next few days.

I booked a Covid test for both of us just to be on the safe side and drove to the drive through test centre at Manchester Airport. Thankfully these both came back negative, I thought they would, but thought it was a good idea to rule it out. Anyway both parents now seem to be doing ok and I’m back home.

Our friends Lorraine, Richard and Emily arrived this afternoon and are staying with us until Sunday, and after they’d dropped their bags off we went into Rhos on Sea. Lorraine does a lot of furniture up-cycling using a paint called French Chic and said she’d help me do a table that I wanted to paint, so we went to a shop in Rhos that sells the paint. Then when we got home we set to and lightly sanded the table down, washed it with sugar soap and then gave it a couple of coats of paint. We left it to dry in the garage overnight and I’m looking forward to seeing it in the morning!
