Leaving Caen

The alarm was set for 0445, and we were out of the house by 0530. After a stop for café et pain aux raisins, we got to the ferry port by 1130.  As the last check in time was 1230, we were expecting all systems go,but check in hadn’t even opened!
Eventually we boarded and left by 2pm, had lunch and then a two hour nap in our cabin.
We arrived at our quarantine destination, a rather lovely apartment above my son-in-law’s parent’s garage by 9pm, unpacked the car, had a distanced chat, gave them presents from France, opened the rhubarb and ginger gin we bought at the local Co-Op, and settled in. Phew, we’re here!
