Reminiscence.
Been with Blip for over a year now and had some feelings of reminiscence for where I started and how struck I was by the feelings of sadness that seem to crop up with regularity for those who lost loved ones and Blippers who died. Robert J A Thomason (RtCph) was one I had followed. I looked back at his last blip recently strangely on the actual date one year ago(9.7.20) and I also remember "mambo's" poignant photo of her husband Peter walking away, alone along a beach. It set me thinking about others whose name I hadn't spotted in the brief time I spend browsing these days and Ogatodomar popped in to my head. Sad to find that he had died this April. Thanks to Incredibish and my further investigations it was interesting to find more about this interesting character - he was a musician - Dave Evans. I loved his journal for his photos and descriptions of food which he clearly loved. He so reminded me of a dear friend who was also a craftsman - restored fine antiques just as Ogatodomar restored and built stringed instruments and who also was a fine cook and knew about good food. He has naturally been in my mind as his birthday is in 2 days time and sadly the sixth anniversary of his passing was 3 days ago. The blip is of the roughly carved astrological tablet he used with the beads mounted on hat pins to represent the planets. When I asked his family if I could have this as a memento of the many times it was used at friend's gatherings to draw up charts the pins were gathered together in a bag and so I am not skilled enough to guess which ones represented each planet except that the single pearl would have been the moon which I have placed in the house of cancer - his sun sign. The little labels have faded and lost the names. Happy memories of an interesting, intelligent person very much in the same vein as Ogatodomar - the world needs more people like this.
