The Aliens have Arrived
I thought these lamp standards framing the Castle outside the Scottish Art Gallery in Princes Street reminded me of a march of aliens.
Red Nose Day it is in more ways than one, even though the noses might not be quite as bright as yesterday or even the day before, with the slight rise in temperature.
While His Lordship and I had cold red noses on a perambulation to a coffee shop in Bruntsfield, the local secondary school seemed to be doing a leisurely Red Nose Day walkathon round the Meadows. Despite the cold, they were wearing the uniform of the scantily dressed, enough to make us adjust our scarves and check that our red noses weren't dripping.
Warmed and invigorated by the walk and the coffee, not to mention the cake apportioned to HL, we did a spot of family party arranging in the local restaurant for daughter#3 who is coming back from Oman to graduate in Edinburgh next month.
With 16 adults and 10 of the grandchildren hoping to come, it will be a tricky enough job catering for food preferences without having the added problem of communicating with a charming Malay who is perhaps not completely understanding what we're saying.
It will be interesting to see what actually arrives on the table.
