This old cactus has forgotten whether it is a Christmas one or an Easter one, and so to hedge its bets, it has decided to make an effort and flower at both festivals. Somehow it knew that Easter was early this year and is resplendent in blooms even though it had tried hard to please in November.

His Lordship and I had vague plans about how to spend the morning, but the gloom and rain beyond the window has forced a rethink. It's certainly a day for an inside coffee, watching wet people trudging outside with umbrellas, and the boot camp enthusiasts rolling about on wet muddy grass, seemingly happy in their sopping apparel.

Apart from enjoying a surfeit of rugby this afternoon and evening, we are looking forward to an early rendezvous with arguably one of the most famous couples on Blipfoto. Barrioboy and Digitaldaze are in town again, hopping from country to country, city to city with such speed and ease that the rest of us are out of breath trying to keep tabs on them.
We are lucky that their Edinburgh pied-à-terre is only a drookit seagull's strut away.
