Holidays Day Three
A pleasant breakfast this morning - the muzak was on low, and it wasn’t even the usual screechy warblers - just nice ordinary tuneful stuff. A better start to the day.
We drove to Chester. The sat nav was a great help, and I reckoned we could get right in to a central city car park no bother. But we passed a Park’n’Ride - Much Better Idea!
What a grand day we had - we loved Chester - the bank card got a bit of a dent… Terrific pedestrianisation, excellent standard of buskers, the odd Roman Centurian walking around, and we found a really good cafe (The Jaunty Goat). We had a late lunch at our favourite - Carluccio’s. There were so many nice shops that we don’t have in Edinburgh, and the wee double level of shops is special.
The cathedral was shut - there was a funeral, but the cloisters and the gardens were open, and we were so glad that we went in - it was fantastic.
Sat nav back in the afternoon - easy peasy. We sat out in the castle grounds in the late sunshine. There are so many different places to sit. It’s SO nice to walk straight through the ‘Dragon Tavern’ with its loud pop muzak and go out into the sunshine and peace and quiet. The peacocks were hanging around, and boy they screech - at night too. There are loads of rabbits and ducks, too. And plenty of dogs (with owners, of course).
Right, TWO football games on tonight. Go Scotland! Go England! It’d be nice for all three home nations to get through to the next stage.
Lots of photos and videos of Archie’s day - a walk on the golf course, then a walk at the beach.
