Watching You!

A great walk today in the sunshine near a local lake, and a pair of swans came over to check us out. Then they glided off gracefully across the water, but this one was certainly keeping watch until (s)he was out of range.

I guess that in a few months time they will be guarding their nest and then watching over their young - certainly not a time to venture too close then!

When I think how aggressively protective they can be I am reminded of the words of Jesus when he said ... "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings and you were not willing." (Matthew 23v37). However unlike the swans Jesus leaves it up to us whether we chose to live under his protection or not.
