Fishbourne Channel, Chichester
We were up early, packed up our things, had breakfast, and then checked out. We took Xena for another walk to the windmill we visited yesterday. I wanted to get more photos of it with the blue skies as a background as yesterday the sky was rather hazy. Xena loved the field of wheat that we walked past and had great fun getting lost in it and then jumping out, spronging like the deer do. (see extras)
Then we went to Chichester to visit our friends - I had a birthday present to hand over and we had not seen their new house as they moved during lockdown. We enjoyed a morning with them having coffee and chatting. By the time we left we had talked each other into booking for the Goodwood Revival in September, which is motor car racing of old classic cars but it is more of an event where everyone gets dressed up in the fashion of the era, so I have some time to find some 1940/50/60 outfit to wear to that! (I am keen to go for the photography, I have zero interest in car racing)
We then decided to walk along a path that runs alongside the Fishbourne Channel that leads to Dell Quay and you could go further to Bosham and Itchenor, but we never had time for that today. We had lunch at a pub on the way, and then drove home.
It was a wonderful mini break. Staying in a hotel during Covid times is not ideal as you always get a late check in and an early check out (so they have time to sanitise the room) and during your stay they don't clean the room which I found a bit annoying. The 10p size of soap we were given had worn down to nothing after one day and they don't replace toiletries or anything like that while you are staying there. I suppose I could have requested it from reception but I never remembered when I was out the room. Having the car damaged by the hit and run driver while it was parked also means it is going to be an unnecessarily expensive weekend. Despite this, it was lovely to get away as we won't be having any exciting holidays for a while yet with our Covid travel restrictions that are unlikely to be lifted anytime soon, now that the 21 June lifting of lockdown doesn't look likely.
