Climping Beach groynes

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is an annual hill climb featuring historic motor racing vehicles held in the grounds of Goodwood House. We are staying in the hotel on the estate - the estate comprises the hotel, the manor house, an aerodrome, a horse racing course, two golf courses and farming land. It therefore is a very large estate and good for walking but unfortunately most of the estate is inaccessible at the moment while they prepare for this festival which happens next month. 


So after breakfast we decided to head to the beach instead for a walk with Xena, and we went to Climping Beach near Littlehampton which was about 10 minutes from the hotel. It was recommended by a friend as it is a quiet beach and does not need to be prebooked. It is quite a messy, unattractive  beach but perfect for photography as it has groynes, broken groyne stumps, bits of fishing nets - I could have spent all day there taking photos, and my blip is taken there. It was quite windy and cool on the beach. We then drove to Littlehampton to get a coffee. I found it a very depressing and sad looking seaside town. On our way back to the hotel we drove through Arundel which has such a magnificent castle and cathedral. I thought back to many years ago when we had a charity dinner at Arundel Castle where Gavin sat next to Elle McPherson, he couldn’t quite believe his luck! 


After a quick salad for lunch at the hotel we went back out as I wanted to find an old Roman road that had featured in the magazine Outdoor Photography, it is now a lane that leads up to Halnaker Windmill. We found the lane with its tunnel of trees (first extra) and then walked up the hill to the windmill (second extra).


We then walked around one of the golf courses to get views of Chichester and surroundings. It has been a busy day, Xena has loved all the walks and I think she is tired now, as am I! We are now rushing to go to supper so apologies for lack of comments, I will catch up soon as we are going back home tomorrow.
