Watersmeet Walk
We had perfect weather today for our walk along the River Lyn to Watersmeet where the only sound was the rushing of water over rocks. Unfortunately the NT cafe is closed at present as a landslide has cut off the route they use to bring in supplies but we had a walk to the waterfall before climbing up through the deciduous woods to the top of Countisbury Hill.
We timed it perfectly for lunch and a pint of Exmoor Gold in the Blue Ball Inn before making the precipitous descent of the Coast Path shown in the blip back down to Lynmouth for an ice cream and a sit by the harbour reading our books.
This evening we walked along the cliff path to the Valley of Rocks again where we spent a couple of hours reading, picnicking on olives, crisps and a takeaway cream tea we had bought earlier , washed down with Prosecco (Tess) and a bottle of Wychwood's finest (me) while enjoying the sun going down (see extra). Perfect!
Nearly 30000 steps, 11 miles and 2500 feet of climbing today. Time for a rest!
