WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

By lizzie_birkett

At 14.05...

...we left our mooring. You can just see the gap between the two boats in the background. We are heading down to Sheffield to meet up with Sabrina & Co as Amelia's figure skating competition is there on 5th July. We thought we'd take our time so we can stop en route. We've never been down that way before so if anyone has any recommendations feel free to advise us!
We only went into Skipton basin today for the night and will move on tomorrow.

I'm quite exhausted today after sorting the garden out at the house and then cleaning everywhere so it's nice when we get back.
Then, at the mooring I sorted that garden out too and put veg plants on top of the boat on rubber backed mats (Frank disapproves as it will most likely leave marks on the paint work)
:-[]

Also, I got up at 4 o'clock this morning! I was woken by the dawn chorus but it wasn't sweet singing more like the gossiping of fish wives! (Ooops is that sexist? ;-D)
I also then felt really hungry and couldn't get back to sleep, what with with my tummy rumbling and Frank snoring, so I got up and went downstairs. I had a bowl of shreddies and and some decaff coffee then dozed off on the sofa watching bits of the Sewing Bee I'd missed.

Sabrina sent me photos of the girls' glowing school reports. Although Sabrina and John are agnostics, Amelia and Lucy go to the local catholic school which is a really good one. Lucy has quite taken to prayers and stories from the bible and her teacher was singing her praises about that. Little does she know that the other morning when Lucy's skin was so bad with her allergies she was crying and said -
'That Jesus is a really bad guy 'cos he made me have itchy skin!'  :-0.  Bless her.

I have been upset after hearing and seeing on the news about the ship going down in Sri Lanka - tons of micro plastic beads into the ocean killing all the sea life in the area.
We went to Sri Lanka 24 years ago and it was such a beautiful place. Now it is polluted probably forever. They can never get rid of all that plastic. It was destined to be turned into plastic bags! We need to stop using them and try to get away from our dependence on the stuff.
Sorry to go on - Rant over!

The weather has been glorious here and I hope it has for you too.
Have a good weekend Blippers. :-)X
Thinking of those who are going through sad times :-(X
