Diary of an Edinburgher

Plan B...

JR busied herself today with an online fitness class, then two visits to two supermarkets for supplies.

I, meanwhile, had a successful, if stressful, morning, cancelling hotels, planes and travel insurance. Many months ago when we thought hoped the pandemic would be coming right by summer, we booked flights down to Jersey to visit our pals. We also booked a hotel, to keep it secret. Oh - we did enjoy planning how we’d just text to say we were coming for a cuppa, or to just turn up at their door. However, we’ve fessed up, because I could change everything online, and I’ve booked for September (surely everything will be OK by then). There was just a possibility that by then, they could go away for a wee break themselves, maybe to France.

We’ve decided not to change our Norway cruise to an Iceland one. Really, the big draw was sailing from Edinburgh, but Iceland does not have the same lure as Norway (for us). We might choose another cruise with this lot, because we will get quite a tempting deal.

We then took Archie for a walk, and happened to pass Kauai, so we stopped for lunch and I used some of my loyalty points which I’ve been building up for months, so it was free. We sat outside, so Archie was happy. Then the others walked on through the Gardens, but I went home, feeling rather weary.

Some news from Christine on the puppy front... Her constant companion, Rufus, died a month or so ago, and she misses him terribly. And she ‘happened to notice’ a black Griffin for sale. So, because our holidays have been cancelled (and so Archie’s holiday with her), she now has no commitments...

I rang to check on Uncle A, to see if he needed anything. My cousin answered, and they were just in the way out to the supermarket. Good.
