Diary of an Edinburgher

Lunch!

No gym for JR this morning! She has a sore foot. Just too much exercise, I think… though she claims it’s jumping too much.

However, it didn’t stop her cleaning the pavers, though she got the wrong kind of cleaner, which required scrubbing and washing off TWICE. She only did one side of the path, but they look splendid.

It was sunny and warm all day today!! Though you had to keep out of the still cool breeze, we couldn’t complain. Archie went out with Elizabeth, and we set off into town, perchance for lunch. And this time, JR did not want to walk either. In fact, the pair of us were like old crocks, hobbling along.

This fine chap was standing at the door of the Waldorf Astoria. I asked him if he was expecting royalty (Princess Anne was at Edinburgh Zoo yesterday with the penguins), and he said, ‘Sort of - it’s a wedding!’

We were in the vicinity of La Petite Folie, a restaurant that we haven’t been to for ages, and felt like pretending we were still in France. And it was rather nice - we both enjoyed our choices. French wait staff of course.

We had a coffee at the nearby Cairngorm cafe, then JR declared she didn’t want to walk in town, she wanted to take the bus home!! And a bus was just coming - I love that.

We sat out in the sun when we came back. I then worked up the effort to ring Apple Support. I’ve rung a couple of times today, and each time I get a different Case ID number and have to explain again. Usually over a line that sounds as if the other person is on a windy foreign beach.

However, the last chap this evening was Irish, and was trying to help, but I was coming to the realisation (actually, a while ago) that it’s impossible to retrieve the lost songs. They are not ‘in the cloud’ at all. They are gone. Vanished. Lost forever. I should have kept my computer, though it was kaput, out of date, and I didn’t need it anymore.

So just as well they are all still on JR’s phone (my old phone). She says I can borrow it for my gym sessions. Perhaps that’s why I’ve been a bit lackadaisical with my crosstrainer exercise of late - no Cranberries music to speed me up.
