Standing Room Only

I went up to Longshaw today to do my butterfly survey. A combination of holidays and fine weather meant that it was very, very busy! I was really relieved to get a parking space. One area is very popular with picnickers and is a great place for kids to play in the brook and my butterfly transect passes right though this honeypot.
The butterfly season is getting off to a slow start but I did slightly better today than my first two surveys. lots of Green Hairstreaks, quite a few Small Whites, and a single Small Heath.
