Sally Mair - Loving life

Thrifty!

This little clump of thrift is in my favourite part of the garden, that sounds very grand as it's only a small garden! It has a real cottage garden look to it which I suppose only happens over years. I can't remember what was in the bed when we first moved in, but I think I've replaced most of it! The thrift is actually in a wee pot on the slabbed area in front of it, but it extends the area very nicely.
We gave church a miss today deciding that avoiding any additional risk is a good idea. The local primary school where the outbreak began is closed for another week although the secondary school remains open.
The girls came round today - daughters and granddaughters, Ali told the wee ones that they are going to be cousins soon. They were very excited and we all indulged in home made chocolate cake to mark the occasion.
We spent the afternoon in the garden although we are really too close to the coast to have had the best weather, there was a chill to the air which was likely linked to the haar which we mostly missed.
My courgettes spent their first night outdoors last night and seem to have survived but I'm not actually going to put them in the ground for a few more days I think.
I made Zoë's blue muffins this morning, but my food colouring wasn't blue enough so I'm going to get a better colour and try again, they were very peeley walley even with four teaspoons of colour rather than the prescribed one. That excitement will just have to wait for another day!
Keep well and safe everybody, we've got two trips away this month and I'm beginning to hope we might even be able to go!
