Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

First fruits... Well first veg actually...

Another lovely day today spent mainly in the garden. The highlight of the day today was Ali visiting and being able to sit and chat in the garden for the morning - scones and coffee were consumed and the visitors hand washing facilities used.
My lettuce arrived from Suttons in much better conditon than the beans were so they are now planted out into various containers. Very kind of Edinburgh Council to provide me with crates for bottles which I have repurposed as planting troughs for the time being. I did some weeding and lots of watering too. My blueberries appear to have set, the blackcurrants and raspberries both appear to be on their way too and my solitary strawberry has several trusses of flowers.
The garden moment today though was lifting the first of the radishes which were delicious. They are in a mushroom box which I lined with recycled polythene.
Dinner in the garden for the third evening in a row. So nice. This weather has been a real boon as we take the chance to meet our one other household per day outside.
Not too much walking today, although I'm pleased that I still manage at least 10k steps every day even with just an hour's real exercise.

Keep well everybody and keep following the rules. A very un-Scottish trait. I think we are doing it so well because we trust the FM.
