Lilac time
I couldn't decide between these two today. The lilac is in a garden nearby, it's well established so not a new variety but I don't think I've seen one with such a striking flowers before. The speedwell, was from our walk at Abercorn this afternoon, I just loved the colour and its simplicity.
After a lazy start to the day, we went to Hopetoun to pick up some compost and I remembered while driving back that Ridgeback13 had mentioned Abercorn. We passed the sign and turned down to have a look as we had never been there before. The Church is lovely, parts of it dating from the 11th century and with 16th, 17th and 18th century additions. It was remodelled in 1893. It's still in use but sadly wasn't open today although the little museum with some fascinating carved stones was. The graveyard had some very old stones in it too and a wonderful old tree which I think is a pine but could be a cedar. (see extra).
We walked down the path to the Forth, it was beautiful to be in such old woodland. There was a wonderful display of wildflowers - my camera was constantly in use.
Back home we sat in the garden for a while and enjoyed the sun before it got cold. We didn't get the haar others did, but it did cool off.
Keep safe everybody, I'm so sorry to hear Glasgow is still held in level 3. The cases in this area have risen, but hopefully with the extra care will be under control again soon.
