And I love to live so pleasantly

Finally, a break from the greyness which has plagued us all week.

We sat reminiscing on Friday evening - back to the heady days of the second month of the first Lockdown.  It was warm.  I planted too many seeds (tell me something new), and I had given plants and seedlings to all the neighbours.

I knitted NHS Workers and gave them to our neighbours, and on the Thursday night standing on the doorstep clap - the whole street sung Happy Birthday to the wee girl across the road.

Life was punctuated by warm, sunny days. Lunches in the garden, and dinner in the setting sun.

This year.  I still have the heating on when I'm working from home.  My cold fingers unable to deal with the numbness.

today was beautiful, and very busy.

We rose at 7. (don't ask); but by Eight, we were in Morrison, and had the weekly shop completed by 8.30. We were both impressed at all the full shelves, and the lack of noise, and light.   It's the quiet hour between 8 and 9, and made for a fairly pleasant shop.

At 9; we were in Irvine, getting fitted for our new glasses.  He was first, and was done by 9.04.  At which point i had wandered in to Primark to see what's new in fashion.  Cheap tat apparently.

My turn.   There were none of the appropriate boxes for my expensive glasses, and I told the girl - I had paid enough to have the correct box, please go and find them.   So she did (the fitting room is in another location from the main shop).

I've gone Varifocal. I've heard nightmare stories from folk all week, telling me how difficult it is to get used to them.   I stuck them on my face - looked straight ahead, I could see.  I looked at the writing behind the optician - I could see.  I looked at my phone.  I could see. Yay!  Huzzah!

Then we came home- got changed and went to the allotment.

We planted the sweet corn - gave some to Drew, who had killed his two weeks before.  We planted squash - Himself built a frame for them to climb.  I weeded the parsnips and carrots (himself accused me of "weeding the seedlings" but I swear i didn't. It was the rabbits, mate wotcher, doncha know".   Himself also planted another 20 pea seedlings.

So now - we have french beans to go in, new leeks, some fennel and some cucumelons.. (we have no idea either).

The place is looking quite quite splendid.

Then Home by 1330.  Lunchtime.  Then to work in the garden.  Sunflowers repotted, Nightphlox repotted.  Three baskets lined and filled.  Cornflowers planted.  Bird feeders filled.  Back and front gardens lawn cut.

And then we sat.

What a day.

So much done.

A gin was the very least we deserved.
