Heavy rain...........And lots of ranting

For once our weather app was correct. It said we were going to have 'heavy rain' all day and we did. I got soaked on my 40 min morning walk and I got even more soaked when I went for a 20 min play in Saughton Park this afternoon. Ann says if it stops raining this evening she will take me out again because I usually get at least 2 hours of walks a day. To be honest, I'm not bothered. I'm such an adaptable little collie and I just fit in with whatever Ann wants me to do. 'MollyCollie' wasn't very adaptable. If she'd only had a 20 min walk she'd be really angry!!  I'm back in my bed having a snooze.

However Ann hasn't had a very good day. Apart from the fact that rain always makes her grumpy, this lack of fitting rooms not being open and not being able to try on clothes in shops is driving her mad. What is the point of clothes shops even opening if humans are not allowed to try on clothes? Humans might as well all just shop online.

A few days ago Ann picked up a pair of trousers in Asda while she was doing a grocery shop. They didn't fit. (Apparently Asda have got rid of all their changing rooms and they won't be coming back!)

Today I got left home alone while Ann got the tram to 'Hermiston Gait Retail Park' so that she could go to 'Decathalon'. Found a lovely pair of summer walking trousers that could also transform into 'cut offs' by rolling up the legs and securing them with a button on the side of the leg. Ann is a size 12. Actually she's a size 14 sometimes. Decathalon clothes all had what Ann thought were 'European' sizings on them. And as far as Ann knew, a European size 38 equals a UK size 12. Mmmmm......... the size 38 looked a bit small so Ann thought, 'I'm obviously a big fat slob, I think I'll need a size 14. I'd better get the size 40.' So that is what she bought, because the changing rooms weren't open and the uninterested 12 year old assistant OK she obv wasn't 12 but she looked it said she didn't know why the changing rooms weren't open.

TKmax (one of Ann's fav shops) was in the same retail park and amazingly they had a lovely pair of walking trousers for £16.99. The ticket said they were size 14 and had been £89.99. Bargain?! But she couldn't try them on because the changing rooms weren't open. She bought them anyway. While she was browsing around she asked three assistants why the changing rooms weren't open. Just so she could see what sort of answers she got. Lol! The answers ranged from; 'it's illegal' to 'we can't open them until social distancing isn't in place' to 'we need the changing rooms to store the returned items for three days'. (That seemed like the most likely reason).

Anyway, once home, she tried on her two new pairs of trousers. They didn't fit. Grrrrrrrr............

First she tried on her 'Decathalon' ones and thought, 'these are lovely trousers but they're a bit tight, but if I need a size 16 then I'm obviously fatter than I thought.' Then she looked at the 'size 40' tag again and realised that what she thought was a size 14 were actually a size 10. She was actually quite pleased that she'd actually managed to get them on and fastened up!!! Not quite sure why Decathalon has such a weird sizing system but heyho who are we to question it.

Next she tried on her 'bargain' size 14 trousers from TKmax. They were massive. Ann could have fit two of her into them. Turns out that the 'ticket' on the trousers said, 'size 14'. The label in the trousers said, 'size 18' and Ann definitely isn't that big!!!.

By lunchtime Ann was back home and it was still pouring with rain and she made me watch 'Nicola Sturgeons' daily briefing thingy. Can we not just get back to normal life and stop faffing around with all these tiers??? The 'Indian Variant' is going to spread whatever. OK Glasgow's still in Tier 3 but it's only a 45 min train journey away from Edinburgh and obviously everyone's just coming here to socialise, etc, etc, etc,.

Anyway this afternoon, Ann said, 'Trixie, I've got three pairs of trousers that need to be returned, so we'll take them all back and hopefully by the time we've done that, the rain will have stopped and you can have a lovely play in 'Saughton Park'. Famous last words............................

….......................The rain didn't stop and I didn't have a lovely play.

…................And now Ann is angrier than ever...............................

Returned her trousers to 'Asda' & 'TKmax' and got a refund (no apology for the wrong size tag being on them), but exchanged the ones in Decathalon for a size 12, only to get them home to find 3 buttons are missing................... Grrrrrrrrr.................... So that means another trip to 'Hermiston Gait Retail Park' (because there is only one Decathalon in Edinburgh) which actually is the worst place in the world to get to by car.

Oh and while my human is having a RANT...........................

….................Does anyone else in Edinburgh think that all these 'bollards' and 'spaces for people' is creating an absolute nightmare. There's no room for anyone to pull in to the side if emergency services want to get past. If taxi's/delivery vans are stopped, that holds up everyone. Driving in Edinburgh is an absolute nightmare and my human doesn't even take her car into the city centre.

Everything just seems to be so much of an effort at the moment. Oh and it's still raining and we've got all the heating on.................................

….................On a positive note.......................... My human is looking forward to 'Coronation Street' & 'EastEnders' tonight.

Toodles xxxx

PS - Thanks for reading this RANT.  It's a bit long isn't it??????
