Peeling Off

I found some branches with interesting bark and began to photograph them. A grey kind of day and at least they weren't moving in the wind. Then I realised it was the bark itself that engaged me more and I wanted to get closer in. Fortunately I had an extension tube in my bag.

I used a wider aperture so that only some of the bark along the edge that was peeling off was in focus. I think it helps to bring out the detail. I liked that the bark had a notch taken out of it.
