Running out of Space

After finishing my Czech lessons for the day, I popped to do some jobs in the village.  I took some out of date tablets and creams to the chemist who will kindly dispose of them; sent a parcel off to the US and had a bit of a catch up with Rekha in the Post Office, then queued at Yorkshire Treats to buy a panini for my lunch.  The bakery was quite busy with several groups sitting out at the tables, which is good news for our latest village business.  The paninis are pretty tasty too!

After lunch I set about sorting the upstairs in preparation for Jen and Pete coming to stay with us.  They are between houses and it makes much more sense for them to be with us rather than searching for rented accommodation.  I'm very excited.  I've moved some furniture around, cleared some space for their things and we've taken down Euan's cot.

We then solved the problem of the 'squirrel and cat gap' in the fence around the garden, which was putting my clematis at risk.  The solution also provides a better trellis for the clematis to cling to which should give it greater protection from the harsh weather we sometimes get at the back of the house.

It was time to take a cuppa up to Tony at the allotment.  He is fast running out of space in his green house so we put up some of his surplus vegetable plants on our local WhatsApp group and a couple of neighbours have already staked a claim to cauliflowers and tomatoes.  I'm getting some kale plants in return too.  There are all sorts of plants apart from veggies in the greenhouse.  Tony has grown some wildflowers to supplement my mini meadow, and bedding plants to go in the borders, baskets and window boxes.  He has also some Scotch Pine seedlings on the go, which I have christened mini Groots.  At the back of the greenhouse are the bedding plants we bought from the garden centre earlier in the week, waiting for these frosty mornings to finish.

I was just thinking could I be bothered stirring myself to make tea when Tony suggested he go for fish and chips, seems he can't be bothered cooking either.  Yes!
