To the seaside
Having decided yesterday not to go anywhere today I set off early for Ardrossan. The spontaneity was adrenaline inducing in itself. I had a hunch that the Ayrshire Coastal Path between Ardrossan and Portencross would not be busy, with most people wanting a day by the sea going to Troon. This proved to be the case and I had the beach pretty much to myself all day. I had lunch just beyond Portencross Castle watching a small group of lads jumping off the old pier, well one lad, the others were a bit feart.
Gorgeous views out towards to Arran, the ferry no doubt as empty as the trains. I had forgotten how tiring walking on the sand can be, especially the softer stuff. The twelve miles felt more of a challenge than the longer walk on Wednesday.
West Kilbride beach looks a fantastic safe spot for a swim a bit later in the year, and on an incoming tide; a couple folk with bobble hats were in the water.
