Autodidact. Not

Many years ago I had a client who was a business coach and it was through him that I learned about Myers Briggs. The biggest insight it gave me was the distinction between people who are 'I' or 'E': introverted or extroverted thinkers.

A rule of thumb for this - at least as far as I understand it - would be whether you prefer to discuss ideas or think about them on your own. This was so helpful for me at work because Steve and I love discussing ideas and solutions,  and I simply assumed everyone was the same.

Suddenly I could understand why some people were uncomfortable as we fired ideas around and I learned to say to some colleagues "Do you want to go and think about that and we can discuss it later?" It made a massive difference!

In fact, I think I am quite extremely 'E'; I'm much better at getting anything done when I'm doing it with someone else. Looking back on it, I think it's why I struggled so much with revision; it was such a solitary endeavour!

I think this also goes some way to explaining why I've struggled to teach myself guitar. I have had a guitar since the girls were small, so nearly thirty years, plus any number of 'Teach yourself' books but I could never settle to it.

However, inspired by my daily success with Duolingo - today is the 729th day without missing a lesson - I downloaded a guitar course from Udemy. It's not that great but it is good. I practise most days and do a new lesson every so often and I am definitely way better than I was.

My Extra for today would have been my Blip except for the light falling so nicely on my fingers while I was practising the guitar. On our daily drive, Dan took us down to Stocks Reservoir.
