Lynford
Today was meant to be a run starting from Brandon Country Park, but that's still closed with police tape everywhere after the sad news earlier in the weekend so, with legs a little stiff from gardening, we decided to do a walk from the Lynford Stag car park instead. The walk took us north through Thetford Forest towards Lynford Hall, then east past the flooded gravel pits, along the sandy heath, back past the firing range, past the Arboretum, past the highland cattle (see extra) & returning through the forest again.
Lynford Hall is now a hotel; the photo was taken at the western end of the ornamental lake formed from a small stream on the southern edge of the original landscaped gardens. The Arboretum is managed by Forestry England but unfortunately the 'No Dogs' policy excluded us, There was plenty of other interest en route - it's one of the better 6 mile circuits around here for photo-opportunities!
