Middlewood Locks

I was interested to see these described on Wikipedia as the "newly named" Middlewood Locks, the first set coming out of Manchester on what was once the Manchester, Bolton, and Bury Canal, part of which used to run behind our house.

There are plans to reopen that section of the old canal route as a 'linear park' for people to walk (and run) along. At the moment, though, the locks are the only part that has been restored, apparently as part of the development of some apartments (on the right in my photo).

The Minx and I walk down this way to go to the Co-op, which is what we were doing when I took this photo, this evening. I think it's going to be wonderful here in the summer, post lockdown. It's nice to have that to look forward to (whether it pans out that way or not!).
