A wee Robin
This afternoon TeeJay, Kiwilizzie and I went for a walk up the Lyell Walkway, about a 35 minute drive west of Murchison. The Lyell is one of sixteen areas set aside in the South Island where anyone can freely enjoy panning for gold (fossicking) without a mining permit - it was once a booming township.
The loop walkway is 3 kilometres long (about 2 hours) and traverses pretty beech forest and explores the history of the gold mining town, including the cemetery, stamper battery, diversion tunnel, and dray road. It was a great walk, stopping regulary for the odd photo opportunity.
This wee Robin was so friendly. It was dancing around, posing beautifully on the native bush, and on TeeJay's camera bag - it stood there picking away at the stitching. It seemed so curious.
So thanks for inviting me T & K - it was great few hours away.
